Eng: Hello friends, I hope you are doing well 😃 Today, I would like to share chapter three of "The Little Prince". Enjoy!
Falloir - need, must, necessary
Indicaif Présent : il faut
Indicatif Imparfait : il fallait
Indicatif Passé Composé : il a fallu
Indicatif Futur : il faudra
Conditionnel Présent : il faudrait
Peu à peu - little by little
» (It was from words dropped by chance that, little by little, everything was revealed to me.)
» (And the little prince laughed out loud, which irritated me greatly.)
I immediately saw a glimmer of light in the mystery of his presence, and I suddenly asked)
Là-dessus - on this
» (It's true that you can't have come from very far...)
dessus: indicates the physical position of above or being on top.
là-dessus: means on that. Personally, for me it is easier to understand as about this (topic)
ci-dessus: first of all, ‘ci’ means, here or this and ‘dessus’ signifies above. Therefore, I understand ‘ci-dessus’ as above-mentioned to refer that is already mentioned in the text.
» (And he sank into a long reverie.)
Efforcer - attempt, try, aim
« Je m’efforçai donc d’en savoir plus long » (So I tried to find out more)
Emporter - carry, take
« Où veux-tu emporter mon mouton ? » (Where do you want to take your sheep?)
Have you ever got confused between ‘apporter’ and ‘emporter’? I found this video very useful for me to understand ☺️
» (But if you don’t tie him, he will wander off somewhere and get lost…)
Remarquer - notice, point out
« Alors le petit prince remarqua gravement » (Then the little prince pointed out earnestly.
» (Doesn’t matter. Where I live, everything is so small !)
In this chapter, I was glad that there were a few things that confused me so that I could revisit. Did I touch upon something that you get confused about? If so, what was that?
